A Christmas Carol......

Welcome to another week of wonder from the

We finally closed on our land and it is now ours!!! So now all the fun starts. This weekend we will start by going up and marking out where we want our driveway and the land cleared and start cutting down trees! On top of that I have painted my great room and my body is already revolting from that. I can not imagine what it will do after this weekend. All I can say is thank God for Aleive!

This week our challenge is So Distressing! Use any kind of method of distressing on your project and it is all good! I see so many of you doing this on your cards all the time so why not join on in?

All of the girls on the DT have been working so dang hard to give you inspiration so hop on over and take a look at what they did and then leave them a little lovin!  We also posted a DT call on the blog so if you love Digi Doodle Shop stamps and would like to be a part of a wondrous team you can find the details on how to do so right HERE

I want to say a hearty thank you to our wonderful Guest DT's for the month of August. They have showered us with their extraordinary talent and it was divine having you as part of the team. Thank you Emma and Susan!

I chose to share with you one of the newest releases called "A Christmas Carol".  I wanted to create a vintage postcard look so this was the perfect image.  I started by coloring with my copics and then used puffy paint dusted with glitter on all of their fur trim and the snow at their feet.  Glossy Accents where added to the song book and their mouths. I first did the background with chalks and then added some distressing ink in Antique Linen. I also hand drew the notes in the air as if they were singing. I double matted the image, both distressed with my handy dandy scissor and again the ink. The sheet music is cut out of an old hymnal that I bought at a thrift shop. The DP and  the sheet music also got a touch of the distress ink to age it. Finally I made my flower out of the same sheet music and spritz it with home made glimmer mist, added the bow, dew drops and wala here is my finished look. How did I do?

So won't you pop on over and join us and try your hand at the challenge. Don't forget to check out the Digi Doodle Shop. You will not beleive all the new stamps that have been added. If you do not keep checking back you will miss sooooooo much!!!  The winner of the challenge will get a $10.00 gift certificate to use at the shop!

Icicle Fairy......

Today I have the beautiful Icicle Fairy to show you!  OK, OK, her proper name is  ©ching chou kuik's Holly Fairy but I just did not want to color her in all reds and greens so I changed her to an Icicle Fairy! Artistic license! You can find her and then color her any way YOU wish at Sweet Pea Stamps. She can be bought as a single stamp or with 3 other lovelies! I am on a roll now as this is my 3rd Christmas card of the year!!!

I colored my image with copics on Neenah paper. I just found out that this paper is made here in WI. Small world!!! After I finished coloring I tried something I have not done before. I used a set of Pearlescent watercolors to create my background and highlight my image. It is hard to see unless you open up the large image but it adds such a shimmer to her and is very pretty.  I need some practice to perfect my technique but was quite happy with my first try! I then added some lace, pearls, snowflakes and holly leaves to embellish my lovely! Thanks so much for letting me share her with you!

Owl's It Going????

Hello everyone! I hope you all had an enjoyable weekend. I spent my Saturday at Copic Certification!!! I had signed up months ago for this class and it finally came.  So now I can proudly say I am a Copic Certified Designer!  I got to try out some of their new
X-press It Blending Card Stock and I am in heaven. It is like magic paper to color on!!! Now I just have to find a good price on it and order it!  That and of course now I want to airbrush!!!! Love the toys!!!!!

Today I am wondering Owl's It Going with you?  This little guy/girl is ©Elaine Cox's Little Owl Witch and can be found at Sweet Pea Stamps.  It can be bought as a single stamp or with 3 other darlings.

I colored my little witch with copics but accidentally stamped her on the wrong side of my card stock so it was the glossy side. I thought I would give it a shot and see what happens (note to self) DO NOT DO IT AGAIN!!!! I found I had a hard time with blending and as you can see in the pictures their are high and low spots in the coloring!!!! This creates a sheen and almost a sticky feel to the image. Live and learn I say!  I put Glossy Accents on the moon behind and added some googley eyes for whimsy!!!! I used black, white and grey chalks for my background and opal liquid pearls for the stars.  Vintage Photo distress ink was used to age the edges of all my papers.  The sentiment was generated on my computer. A friend of mine had just laced a card of hers with string so I CASED that and did the same with some fibers I had forever and strung a few beads on them. Even with the shiny card stock I think it turned out pretty cute, what do you think? Don't forget to check out all of the Sweet Pea DT designs at the Sweet Pea blog and submit your creations to be showcased on the blog too!

The Perfect Tree....

Welcome to another week of wonder from the Digi Doodle Shop's Best!  Can you believe we are almost at the end of August. I have been so busy this week getting bids from contractors. It is just crazy!!!!  This week our challenge Anything, I Say ANYTHING GOES!!!!! I know this one is you very favorite! Anything you might create this week will fit the criteria so there is NO reason not to join in!

All of the girls on the DT have been working so dang hard to give you inspiration so hop on over and take a look at what they did and then leave them a little lovin!  We will also be posting a DT call on the blog in the next few days so if you love Digi Doodle Shop stamps and would like to be a part of a wondrous team watch for the posting!

I chose one of the new stamps released in August for my card called "The Perfect Tree"  It just called out to me when I saw it!!!  Wow, 2 Christmas cards in one week! I am on a roll!  The innocence of these two kids and the scrawny tree the picked out just melted my heart!  I colored it with copics and then added Glossy Accents to their boots and the ax. I then added Puffy Paint and Glistening Snow Writer to the fur on their hats.  I also added the Snow Writer to the piles of snow and then added dots to my chalked sky and bits on the tree to appear like it was snowing out. I glittered the edges of the mat and added a large iridescent snowflake and a few gem stones to give just a bit more sparkle. The sentiment was stamped on with a Stampin' Up stamp.

Scaredy Cat .....

Happy Monday everyone!!! I am in a great mood today!!! We put an offer on the land we were looking at on Saturday and it was accepted!!!  We are closing on the 25th of this month.  We have tons of clearing to do, a road to be put in, sewer, water, electric a dock and so on and so on but it is ours.  After almost 5 months of looking for just the right place I do not care how much work we have to do. The lake is called Sunset Lake so right there it gives off an ambiance!!!!  I am just so excited to get crackin' on it!!! Thanks for all your well wishes and prayers!!!! I truly appreciate it!

Today I am showcasing an artist that I have not yet shown on my blog.  This little lovely is  ©Elaine Cox's Little Stars Witch and can be purchased at Sweet Pea Stamps. I had a wonderful time coloring her and hope you like her too. After this one she is now one of my favorites.  She is sold as a single stamp or on a sheet with three other stamps and the sentiment that I used with her!

I colored her with my copics and then cut her out to be able to pop her up on foam tape to give dimension. Glossy accents have been added to her eyes, lips and broomsticks.  I cut the scalloped background out with a Spellbinder Nestie on my Cuttlebug.  I thought the DP matched my coloring of the moon. What do you think? I never pick my DP out ahead of time. I guess maybe I should but I want to be free when I color.  I chose the purple polka dot DP to coordinate with the dots that I put on their hats with my Opal Liquid Pearls.  Stickles were also added to the stars on their hats. I stamped the sentiment directly onto my DP and then colored it in.  Last but not least I added a swirl of orange pearls and an Copic colored ribbon to match!

Don't forget you can win $50 in stamps from Sweet Pea just by placing an order between now and the end of the month.

Poinsetta Fairy.....

Happy TGIF!!!! I hope you all have great plans for the weekend. We are taking a drive up north to take hopefully, fingers crossed, a FINAL look at some land we are looking to buy!!!! Please think good thoughts that all goes well and we are at the end of our journey for purchasing a lake lot. This has been going on since April!!!!!! I will keep you all posted on what happens!

My card today is my first Christmas card of the year!!!! When I saw the new designs that ching chou kuik's was designing for Sweet Pea I could hardly wait to get my hands on them.  This vision is called Poinsetta Fairy.  You can get her at Sweet Pea Stamps. and can be bought as a single stamp or with three other luscious beauties that I will be showcasing in the next few weeks.

I colored her with my copics and after seeing what the artist did I figured why mess with perfection so for this first card I colored her in the same colors as she did.  I think she has the most exquisite face.  She reminds me of my Granddaughters Barbie doll.  I added some stickles to the flowers and leaves and then covered her wings with transparent glitter. I also added some crystal stickles to the ribbon and the large poinsettia flower.  The leaves for the flower were made with green ribbon and the lattice was punched with a MS double loop punch. My background was done with my signature chalks.

Don't forget to check out all of the other Design Team's work and remember to submit your Sweet Pea Designs to be showcased every month on the Sweet Pea Blog!
