Hip Chick!!!

This little Hip Chick was a gift from my friend Lisa and I inked her up and colored her and have been waiting for the right layout to put her on.  I then remembered that I had this velumn in my stash and thought it was perfect for her since she is kind of the bohemian type. In fact her name is Flower Girl. Since she is a new stamp to me I entered her into Raise The Bar: It Debut!  Now I was extremely young in the 60's but my older sisters were flower children, so I do have some recolection.  I used a sketch from Tellen's Place by the lovely Michelle, allthough they may think I didn't quite follow it since I didn'y put on a seperate sentiment. The words were on the paper allready and did not want to be redundant! I think it showcased her perfectlly!

Now here is the hard part.  Anyone that knows me, knows that I am very particular about how I do things so this shabby chic or distressed look is a real stretch for me and it is hard for me to get used to. See I like crisp corners and everything in its place. I took my scissors and roughed up the edges of all of my paper and even tore a bit, took the ink pad and rubbed them in it and didn't even look twice.  Got on my sewing machine and for the first time didn't worry if I was sewing in a straight line.  Heck maybe there is something to this after all. You can mess it up and then just say "IT WAS SUPPOSE TO BE THAT WAY!!" works for me.  Any who, the good people at Simon Says Stamp are having a DT call and they also have the Shabby Chic challenge this week. Now I enter their challenges quite often but this one is not just for fun!!!!!

Now I colored my little hippie with my copics which is my favorite coloring medium and highlighted her in my usual way with my white uni-ball. This will fit nicely into the challenge at Incy Wincy Designs.  Her marvy socks are glazed to shine them up and of course I had to add a bit of stickles to her flower power headband and her dress.  Don't you just dig her?  I hope they do at the Totally Gorjuss challenge too. They were having a monochromatic theme this week.  Hence the all pink.  Heck if there were no purple or pink my blog would be empty.  Maybe I need to hide those two colors for a while!!!! Stamp, Scrap and Doodle also had girly!
